The Cottage


Casa Volta do Mar is situation on Rua da Rosa, the old road which passes over one side of Monte Queimado and is lined by small fisherman’s cottages that back up into the mountains side, giving them panoramic views back onto Porto Pim, across the city and into the Harbour.

The house itself house as been newly renovated to a high specification in order to offer a special and unique place to stay in town for our guests.

As you enter the cottage there is a large open plan living area with stylish kitchen, comfortable living area with log burning fire and dining area with views onto the courtyard bursting with colourful tiles and Azorean plant life.

The bedroom, like the rest of the house, has tall open ceilings and large comfortable wooden bed.

There is a large bathroom is a reminder that the house sits within a volcanic formation with artistically tiled walls and larva flooring and is complete with toilet, washbasin and walk-in shower.

As you walk out the back door the garden is split into five areas. First a traditional Portuguese courtyard that leads up to sun terrace with sofa and dining area.

Next you enter a flower garden in the middle of the garden. As you start to climb the stairs their is a small rockery and finally at the top of the garden, a lounge area with fire fit and green area with pergola all with wonderful views out to the sea, city and harbour.
