Casa Monte Queimado

This restored fisherman’s cottage is located in the heart of Porto Pim, in the desired seaside parish of Horta. From the outside terrace you have a commanding view of the beautiful bay to your left and the bustle of the harbour to your right.

The home is perched on the side of of Monte Queimado which forms one of the three natural reserves on Faial island, being part of the marine protected area Baía das Caldeirinhas. The landscape is composed of volcanic cones and craters, grassy slopes, cliffs, bays, inlets, rocky beaches, and marine caves. The area is a main habitat of grey dunes and prized endemic vegetation, such as Tree Heath “Erica azorica” and the native Azorean Candleberry Tree “Myrica faya”. It also serves as haven for birds such as the Cory’s Shearwater, the Common Tern, and the Grey Heron.
